Another interesting endoscopy at Torquay Animal House Vets

endoscope procedure images taken at Torquay Animal House Veterinary Clinic and Hospital

The Torquay Animal House Veterinary Hospital endoscopy machine has been used as part of our team’s in house diagnostic work quite a bit lately!

Our latest procedure followed a multi-step work up prior, part of which involved blood testing and ultrasound in clinic, before the decision was made by our experienced veterinarians that a general anesthetic and endoscope was the best next step indicated for the patient.

These images above taken during the latest endoscopy at our hospital were very satisfying and informative for all involved.

What is an endoscope?

An endoscope is a flexible tube with a live video camera attachment that is inserted through the mouth down into the stomach or through the rectum into the colon. An endoscope machine allows for the vet to examine the insides of these hollow organs through this camera. An endoscopy will aid in the diagnosis of strictures, abnormal cells, or tumors, as well as the removal of any foreign objects that may be present and also allows sampling of tissue with a specific endoscope biopsy attachment if required, without the need for external incisions.

How lucky we are at Torquay Animal House Vets to be one of a tiny few GP clinics in Victoria to have access to such a valuable piece of equipment in our Veterinary Hospital here on the Surfcoast in Torquay, Victoria!
